چکیده

The aim of the study was to elucidate combined effects of water immersion (WI) and changing body positions on human cardiorespiratory (CR) function in regular swimming pool conditions. Twelve young healthy volunteers (6 females, 6 males) adopted a series of eight 4-min resting body positions on dry land and during WI. CR and gas exchange parameters were measured breath-by-breath by a telemetric portable gas analyzer (K4 b, Cosmed, Italy). An integrated telemetric monitor (Polar Vantage, Finland) was used for the measurement of heart rate (HR) simultaneously. WI had significant effect on CR and metabolic function so that redistribution of blood volumes occurred towards central circulation. Coolness of water was noticed to increase resting metabolic rate considerably. We conclude that constant hydrostatic pressure with immersion blunted the cardiac variations with body positions in regular swimming pool conditions.

Respiratory and cardiovascular responses to cold stress following repeated cold water immersion.

The effects of cold acclimation (CA) on the cardiorespiratory responses to cold air and water stress tests (CST) were studied in 7 males before and after a CA program of daily 90-min cold water (18 degrees C) immersions repeated 5 times a wk for 5 consecutive wk. The CST consisted of a 90-min resting exposure to cold air (5 degrees C, 30% relative humidity) or water (18 degrees C) during which ...

Physiology Of Drowning: A Review.

Drowning physiology relates to two different events: immersion (upper airway above water) and submersion (upper airway under water). Immersion involves integrated cardiorespiratory responses to skin and deep body temperature, including cold shock, physical incapacitation, and hypovolemia, as precursors of collapse and submersion. The physiology of submersion includes fear of drowning, diving re...

A study of variation in cardiocirculatory parameters with different body positions during isometric exercise in young adult males.

Introduction: To study the effects of exercise, how important it is to choose a posture? We aimed to characterize the possible impact of different body positions on cardiovascular parameters during and after sustained isometric handgrip (IHG) exercise. Materials and Methods: Cross sectional study was carried out in 33 young adult males (mean age: 19.21±1.083 years). We recorded Bloo...

Comparison of thermoregulatory responses between men and women immersed in cold water.

Eleven women (age = 24.4 +/- 6.3 yr, mass = 65.0 +/- 7.8 kg, height = 167 +/- 8 cm, body fatness = 22.4 +/- 5.9%, mean +/- SD) were immersed to neck level in 18 degrees C water for up to 90 min for comparison of their thermal responses with those of men (n = 14) in a previous similarly conducted protocol. Metabolic rate increased about three times resting levels in men and women, whereas the ra...

Analysis of the dynamic behavior of the car user in the irregular terrain

Many people experience vibration effects on whole-body throughout their lives frequently. Vibrating energy absorbed is exposed all-body caused with vibration hazard in the vertically on body and biodynamic responses from body in speed 2.37 to 5.14 m/s could captivate with car seat on user body, so the vibration energy transferred to a seated people body. In this paper, the human body is modeled...
